Last Christmas, I fell in love with one Pinterest photo: a snowy flocked tree covered in oversized white ornaments, ribbons of gold, sparkly picks and a big wintry topper. It looked like it belonged in a designer showroom, so I set out to recreate it at home, and I found almost everything on Amazon.
If you’re dreaming of a soft, glowy white and gold Christmas tree this year, this is exactly how to get the look, step by step, with every piece linked below. It’s one of the most-searched Christmas tree ideas for 2026, and it’s easier than it looks.
Quick tip: Christmas decor sells out fast in November, especially oversized ornaments and wide ribbon. If you’re planning this look, grab the pieces early.

Step 1: Start With a Flocked Tree
The snowy flocked branches are what make this look so soft and dreamy. A pre-lit flocked tree with warm white lights is the easiest starting point, because the lights glow through the flocking.
Already have a green tree? Look for one with white-tipped branches, or add extra white picks in Step 4 to fake the snowy look.
Step 2: Add Ribbon Before Ornaments
Ribbon goes on first so it can tuck deep into the branches. Use two kinds: shimmery champagne gold for warmth and wide ivory velvet for softness.
- The waterfall method: Cut the ribbon into 18 to 24-inch pieces. Starting at the top, tuck one end into the tree, let it puff out, and tuck the other end in about a foot lower. Work your way down in loose vertical lines.
- Alternate gold and ivory as you go around the tree.
Step 3: Layer Your Ornaments (Big to Small)
This is the secret to a designer tree. Hang the biggest ornaments first, then fill in with smaller ones.
- Oversized white ornaments first. Spread the 6-inch white balls evenly around the tree, including a few tucked deep inside for depth.
- Glitter snowball ornaments next. These sparkly white balls look like snowballs and make the tree feel cozy and magical.
- Gold glitter ornaments. Add a pop of sparkle near the ribbon.
- Clear ornaments. These catch the light and add a magical, icy glow.
- Small white glitter ornaments last to fill any empty gaps.

Step 4: Finish With Picks
My favorite extra touch: white teardrop finial ornaments. They hang straight down between the round ones and add a pretty, elegant shape.

Picks are the finishing touch that makes a tree look full and professionally styled. Tuck gold glitter berry stems and white berry picks in clusters of two or three, angled outward, especially near the ribbon.
Step 5: Make a Statement Topper
Skip the traditional star. Instead, gather a big bundle of white and gold glitter sprays and twigs at the top so they burst outward.
Step 6: Finish With a Faux Fur Tree Skirt
A fluffy white faux fur tree skirt ties the whole look together and looks like fresh snow under the tree. Set a few extra oversized ornaments on it for a finished, styled look.

Tips for the Perfect White and Gold Tree
- Stick to 2 or 3 colors. White, gold and clear keep it soft and elevated.
- Use warm white lights, not cool white. Warm lights make the white and gold glow.
- Mix finishes. Matte, glitter, flocked and clear ornaments add depth without adding color.
- Go big. Oversized ornaments and wide ribbon read as “designer” from across the room.
