Let me be totally honest with you: I didn’t write this post from a Pinterest-perfect place. I wrote it because I’ve been the mom at the grocery store doing mental math to figure out if I could swing the strawberries and the yogurt in the same week.
If you’ve ever felt that little squeeze of panic, or just wanted to contribute to your household in a way that fits your actual life: naps, school drop-offs, chaos and all — this post is for you.
Here are 15 real ways moms (yes, even busy, sleep-deprived, zero-time moms) are making extra money in 2025. Some of these I’ve done myself. Others I’ve researched to death or seen close friends have major success with.
None of them are MLMs. None of them require a huge upfront investment. And every one of them is mom-life friendly.
1. Freelance Writing for Blogs
If you like writing and have stories or tips to share, there’s a market for it. Think parenting blogs, frugal living, lifestyle, or anything you know well.
Pay: $50–$300/article
Where to Start: ProBlogger, Upwork, or pitch directly to sites you read
Mom Win: Write during nap time or after bedtime — no Zoom calls required.
2. Virtual Assistant (VA) Work
Small businesses are constantly looking for help with emails, scheduling, social media, and admin work. If you’re organized, this is gold. All you need is ONE client to say yes!
Pay: $20–$50/hour
Where to Look: Belay, Fiverr, or pitch directly to creators you follow
Mom Win: Totally remote and flexible — you choose your hours.

3. Sell Printables on Etsy
Planners, budget trackers, kids’ activities — if you can make a cute, helpful PDF, you can sell it. Do you have a skill, profession or hobby you can make a printable about? The list is endless, and its FREE to make.
Pay: Passive income potential, every dollar counts!
Tools Needed: Canva (free), Etsy shop (low startup cost)
Mom Win: You create it once, and it can keep selling while you’re chasing toddlers.
4. User Testing
Companies pay real people to test their websites and apps. You just speak your thoughts out loud while clicking through.
Pay: $10–$60/test
Time: 15–30 minutes
Sites to Try: UserTesting, Respondent.io, User Interviews
Mom Win: Quick, one-off sessions you can do in a quiet moment.
5. Reselling Kids’ Clothes and Toys
I have made HUGE money off of this. You already have the inventory — your outgrown stuff. Clean it up, snap a few pics, and list it. Have an expensive toy that is in demand? Consider renting it out monthly!
Where to Sell: Facebook Marketplace, Kidizen, Mercari
Mom Win: Declutter + cash = yes please.
6. Pet Sitting (or Dog Walking)
If you’re already home most of the day, watching someone’s pet can be a super easy add-on. You’d be shocked at how many people NEED this service.
Pay: $20–$50/day
Where to Start: Rover, or through local Facebook groups
Mom Win: Built-in playmate for your kids too? Win-win.

7. Tutoring or Teaching Online
If you have a background in teaching, or even just love a subject (like English or math), you can make great money online.
Pay: $15–$60/hour
Where to Try: Outschool, Wyzant, Preply
Mom Win: One-on-one or small groups, done from your kitchen table.
8. Offer a Local Service
Moms are time-starved — and they will pay for help. Think laundry washing & folding, grocery delivery, errand running, or even organizing garages.
How to Start: Post in local Facebook groups or Nextdoor
Mom Win: Bring your kids with you or work during school hours.
9. Transcription Work
If you’re a fast typist and can follow audio, transcription can be solid, quiet work.
Pay: $0.40–$1/minute of audio
Where to Start: Rev, TranscribeMe
Mom Win: No calls, no camera — just typing in peace.
10. Start a YouTube Channel or Blog
It’s not fast money, but if you love creating and want to build long-term income, it’s worth it. Think mom life, cleaning routines, or budget tips.
Tools: Phone, Canva, maybe a $20 mic
Mom Win: Creative outlet + income potential = dream job for some moms.
11. Rent Out Baby Gear or Equipment
Do you have swings, bassinets, or travel cribs just sitting in storage?
Try: BabyQuip or Facebook Marketplace
Mom Win: Earn cash on stuff you already own.

12. Babysit for Other Moms
This one is seriously under rated. If you’re already home with your littles, watching one more can be easier than you think — and it adds to your income fast.
Pay: $10–$25/hour
Mom Win: Built-in playdate + extra cash
13. Voiceover Work
Got a good voice and a quiet closet? You could record audiobooks, YouTube intros, or ads.
Where to Start: Fiverr, Voices.com
Mom Win: Read scripts during nap time — no video needed.
14. Offer Meal Prep or Bake for Others
If you’re already good in the kitchen, others will pay for homemade lasagna or birthday cakes.
Where to Find Clients: Local mom groups or Instagram
Mom Win: You’re already cooking — just double the batch.
15. Proofreading or Editing
Great at catching grammar mistakes or cleaning up writing? Proofreading is quiet, flexible work that pays surprisingly well.
Pay: $15–$50/hour
Where to Start: Proofread Anywhere, Upwork, or direct outreach
Mom Win: Silent, nap-time-friendly, and in-demand.
You Don’t Need to Do It All — Just Start With One
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a deep breath. You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight. Start with just one idea, the one that feels easiest or most interesting, and see where it leads.
Sometimes the goal isn’t to get rich. Sometimes it’s just to buy groceries without stress, or to treat your kids to ice cream without checking your bank app first.
You’re a mom, and you’re creative, resourceful, and doing your best while doing it all.
And sometimes, your best includes making a little money on your own terms. You’ve got this. 💛
